According to the Traffic Police, follow traffic rules to save money for yourself or your family. As the Motor Vehicle Act penalty for various traffic violations gets revised and all set to go live starting on September 1, the Traffic Police are taking a new approach to raise awareness.
Traffic Rules Posters and banners with revised penalties are being put up at major junctions in the city but with a difference. Instead of putting it blandly, the police have taken the mentor route. They say ‘Advice! – Follow Traffic Rules and Save Your Money!’ Learn (How to Pay Your Traffic Challans).

Save Your Money by Following Traffic Rules
The police have also displayed the new structure of penalties saying that wearing a helmet could save Rs.1,000, the same amount you’d save wearing a seatbelt. The savings will be Rs.5,000 if you don’t drive on your cell phone, and Rs.10,000 if you don’t drive drunk.
Additional DCP (Traffic), Rachakonda, Mohammed Tajuddin Ahmed said the traffic police are doing an awareness campaign to get motorists to follow traffic rules.
Toward the end of September, we’ll be imposing challans based on the new penalty structure. We’re raising awareness at all important junctions. We’re distributing pamphlets. “We want to help people save money by following simple traffic rules,” he said. The Hyderabad Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) K Babu Rao said a similar campaign was launched too, and it will run until the end of August.
