In the film industry, there’s a common belief that classic works should remain untouched and masterpieces should be preserved in their original form. This mindset is often driven not by fear of failure but by concern over potential backlash on social media. Recently,
Anasuya Bharadwaj shared a short video clip on her Instagram and Twitter with an intriguing caption: “Something which I’ve been super anxious about but also feel super lucky to be the one to do… #Savitramma #Mahanati!! The attempt itself is an achievement for me!! Thank you @chandanabros @YamunaKishore garu for considering me I will cherish this work forever.”

In the clip, Anasuya is seen portraying Subhadra from the iconic “Aha Na Pelli Anta” song in Mayabazar. However, this led to her facing criticism for imitating the legendary Mahanati Savitri.
The Telugu film community is now abuzz with discussions about TV anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj’s attempt to recreate Savitri’s iconic role from Mayabazar for a shopping mall promotion. Anasuya’s rendition of “Aha Na Pellanta” was part of a TV commercial. Since the release of the Mahanati biopic, where Keerthy Suresh received acclaim for her portrayal of Savitri, other actors have tried to recreate Savitri’s scenes but often fell short in the eyes of fans.
Anasuya’s recent attempt was no exception. Many devoted fans of Savitri and the film Mayabazar felt that the commercial, and Anasuya’s portrayal, disrespected the legacy of the legendary actress. Additionally, the new lyrics, which were tailored to promote the shopping mall’s offers, did not sit well with the audience.
